Bow Your Views to Reviews
Experiences from Secret Zagreb at an international conference in Portugal
Bow your views to reviews - adapting, people-pleasing and self-censoring in interpretation - this was the title of our manager Iva Silla's presentation at the Interpret Europe conference. in Faro, Portugal this April.
WHAT WAS THE PRESENTATION ABOUT?
Has it ever happened, to those of you who work with visitors, that you wanted to do something out of the box with your interpretive project, but you had to tame your aspirations to get some funding? Have you ever had an encounter with a guest who was blatantly dismissive of democratic viewpoints, and you let it slide?

Presenting Secret Zagreb at international conferences
We've had a chance to present our tours and quests to specialised international audiences at conferences in Poland and in Sweden. The Poland conference took place in April, and it was organised by Interpret Europe. If you've been browsing through this blog, you might already know that our Iva is a very active Interpret Europe member and guide trainer. She attended the conference and presented how the Badass Women of Zagreb tour was developed as a part of a presentation called The Blind Badasses: Turning tales of historical underdogs into interpretive experiences.
Just last week, Iva travelled to Sweden to take part in an international Transformative Play Initiative Seminar and presented our gamified Witch Hunt quest in a presentation calledWitch Hunt Quest: can a gamified tour stoke the flame?
It is motivating to know that specialised communities, that aim to bring positive changes to the world, recognise our projects as something that can add value and new perspectives to their initiatives. But more importantly, the two events were an incredible opportunity for us to gain new insights, and find ways to make our experiences more meaningful.
